Mechatronic Technician

Your Start in This Vocational Training

Your first step in the BÜFA world begins with a  "getting acquainted weekend". Before you actually start your vocational training, you will get to meet the other apprentices and your training supervisor who will be your personal contact throughout the entire duration of your vocational training and who will always have an open ear for you.

At a relaxed get-together, BÜFA employees will give you initial insights into your new world of work which saves you having to jump into the deep end by yourself.

Your Tasks and Activities

This apprenticeship takes 3½ years. During this time you can expect the following activities:

  • You will operate machines and  systems.
  • You will work with metals and plastics.
  • You will carefully document the work you have executed.
  • You will construct and program controls for electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • You will carry out repairs and maintenance of machines, equipment and systems.

The Course of Your Vocational Training

1st year of training

In your first year of vocational training you will be familiarized in your so-called home department. At BÜFA, the principle "learning by doing" applies. Right from the beginning, you will be given "real work" to do and will receive more and more responsibility as time goes on. But working independently at BÜFA does not mean that you have to do all of your tasks all by yourself. Just the opposite, if you have questions, you can always turn to your colleagues.

2nd and 3rd year of training

To gain insights into activities that focus on different things, you will switch to another area of BÜFA and will also be sent to external companies in our training alliance  AVNW.

4th year of training

You will return to your home department again for work and will also concentrate on preparing for your final examinations.

Vocational school classes are held in the form of teaching blocks at the Bildungszentrum für Technik und Gestaltung [Education Center for Technology and Design] in Oldenburg. Internships and intercompany instruction will help you prepare for final examinations I and II.

Soft Skills and Prerequisites

For this apprenticeship you must have at least a good secondary school certificate with good grades in mathematics, physics and technology. In addition, you should also be interested in technology and electronics and also have the following soft skills:

  • Capacity for teamwork
  • Engagement and a sense of responsibility

You can obtain vocational training to become a Mechatronics Technician at this site – however, you must apply centrally.

Your Post-Training Prospects

If you pass your final exam with a score of 3 or better, you will normally be offered an employment contract for at least 6 months. However, even before this, all apprentices can apply for internal vacancies. And if you have then found the job of your dreams, that’s when things really get going - BÜFA offers their employees numerous and very individual  opportunities to further their qualifications  and education. From extra-occupational studies all the way to specialisation in a certain subject area, anything is possible ... because our employees are the real capital and heart of our company.

The deadline for applications for the year of training begins in the respective summer holidays and ends on October 31st of the prior year. The selection process takes place after this date.
