Fibre composites in rail vehicle construction.

28.03.2022

BÜFA will be attending the SKZ symposium again this year on 10th and 11th of May 2022 in Merseburg - topic: fibre composites in rail vehicle construction.

Strengthening of competitiveness through the use of the latest fibre composite technologies, hydrogen power and additive manufacturing, innovations in material development, processing and application - these are the topics that will be in focus at the SKZ symposium as well as the associated trade exhibition.

"The exchange of best-practice experiences between decision-makers of manufacturers, processors, users and service providers will be particularly exciting," says conference director Carina Heinze, looking forward to the event. "After all, there is no alternative to personal technical discussions. At this conference, participants can expect not only top-class expert lectures and an accompanying trade exhibition. Our fire protection expert Peter Kornas will be there as a speaker and will give a presentation on the subject of fire protection on railways.

In the evening, guests will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas and network among professional colleagues in a casual, communicative atmosphere." Here you will find the programme of the event.

Alternative to traditional materials

Fibre-reinforced composites have been established in rail vehicle construction as an alternative to traditional materials for a long time. At the same time, competition in the market for rail vehicles is constantly increasing. But the challenges resulting from new drive systems, innovative manufacturing techniques (e.g. additive manufacturing) and joining processes are also increasingly coming into focus and offer potential for the use of the innovative lightweight construction material FRP.

The conference will highlight innovations in material development, processing and application for use in rail vehicle construction. The parallel trade exhibition offers all companies in the industry a competent, attractive and dynamic exchange platform. Specialist information and best-practice experience can be shared between decision-makers on the part of manufacturers, processors, users and service providers, with the aim of further strengthening competitiveness through the use of the latest fibre composite technologies.
